The only AHRI Certified® refrigerant testing laboratory in California

We test refrigerant purity against AHRI Standard 700 and analyze the condition of refrigeration compressor oil. 24 certifications are listed worldwide, held by 14 organizations. One of them is in California, and this is it.

Illustrative Amalina Technologies refrigerant analysis report: a header, a reference line, and one row per AHRI 700 characteristic — Air and other non-condensables, Water, All other volatile impurities, High boiling residue, Particulates and solids, Acidity, Chloride — each judged against the limit for the specific refrigerant, with non-condensables shown as Not Applicable where the fluid is exempt. 01What we test

Two services, one bench

Both run in our own laboratory in Santa Fe Springs. Neither is subcontracted out of state.

Not an AHRI RTL scope

Refrigeration Oil Analysis

Condition and wear analysis for chiller and refrigeration compressor oil — mineral, alkylbenzene, POE and PVE.

A distinction worth making: the AHRI Refrigerant Testing Laboratory program certifies refrigerant testing. It does not cover oil analysis, and we do not imply that it does. Our oil work stands on method and on the reports it produces.

02Why the certification matters

A result that has to hold up

Reclaimed refrigerant cannot be sold until a batch is verified against AHRI Standard 700. That makes the laboratory behind the number part of the compliance record, not a formality.

Federal rules name a certified refrigerant testing laboratory as one of the accepted routes for that verification (40 CFR 82 subpart F). We are one. When a result of ours supports a batch, the certification behind it is checkable by anyone, in a public directory, in about ten seconds.

The 7 characteristics we report

The characteristics reported on every refrigerant analysis, and the method for each
CharacteristicMethod
Air and other non-condensablesGas chromatography — separate vapor-phase sample
WaterKarl Fischer titration
All other volatile impuritiesGas chromatography
High boiling residueGravimetric — the basis used must be recorded
Particulates and solidsVisual
AcidityTitration — detection limit 0.1 ppm on a 50–60 g sample
ChlorideTurbidity — turbidity appears at roughly 3 ppm by weight

Limits are per refrigerant, not one generic set — R-11 and R-123 carry a different moisture limit and are not subject to the non-condensables test at all, and blends are judged on composition windows rather than a purity minimum. The full table is published here.

03How it works

Register first, then ship

Registering the sample before it travels means it is logged the moment it reaches the bench, and you have a record of what you sent.

  1. 01

    Register the sample

Tell us the refrigerant or oil, the system it came from, and where to send the report. Takes a couple of minutes.

  2. 02

    We send a kit

A 400 psi sample cylinder for refrigerant, or a glass bottle for oil, with labels and the procedure.

  3. 03

    Take the sample

Draw from the liquid valve, fill to 75–80% — about 350 g. The full procedure is published.

  4. 04

    We test and report

Every characteristic against the limit for your specific refrigerant, with a pass or fail on each line and what it means.

04What you can check before you send anything

Nothing here asks for the benefit of the doubt

Amalina Technologies shares ownership with a refrigerant reclaimer next door. We say so on every page, and we explain exactly how the laboratory is kept separate from it. Read the independence policy.
